Webinar to look at management of contact lens keratitis

A new BCLA webinar will discuss the management of contact lens related keratitis and look at methods of preventing the condition taking hold.

The session will be presented by Indy Sian, a Consultant Eye Surgeon at Musgrove Park Hospital and the Nuffield Health Hospital in Taunton.

Indy said: “This session will present an overview of infectious and non-infectious contact lens related keratitis.

“Our understanding of prevention and prophylaxis of contact lens-related keratitis has been informed by several well-designed prospective epidemiological studies describing incidence rates and risk factors and recent evidence for causative organisms, pathophysiology, and the differences between individuals. This talk aims to discuss the predisposing factors, investigations and management of this condition.”

Having completed general ophthalmology training in the South-West of England, Mr Sian undertook advanced specialisation in the medical and surgical management of cataract surgery, complex corneal and external eye disease, corneal transplantation and refractive laser surgery at the world-renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital, London.

He is certified by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists for refractive surgery and holds the certificate in laser refractive surgery.

The webinar forms part of the BCLA’s ongoing education programme for 2022, with a range of online and face-to-face events scheduled to give members access to the very latest learning and technological advances in the field of contact lenses and anterior eye.

The webinar, which is open only to BCLA members, will be held online from 6.30pm to 7.30pm on Tuesday, 26 April 2022. CPD has been applied for.
