Two Gerrards Cross based optometrists erased from register

GOC erases Gerrards Cross based optometrists from register

The General Optical Council (GOC), the UK regulator for optometrists and dispensing opticians, has decided to erase both Khairul Rahman and Sania Shah, optometrists based in Gerrards Cross, from its register.

A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found their fitness to practice impaired both on the grounds of public protection and in the wider public interest.

For Mr Rahman, this is in relation to making a total payment of £32,400 to Ms Shah from October 2015 to September 2016 knowing she had not worked the required number of hours to justify the pay; claiming false expenses; making personal purchases on a company credit card; and falsifying receipts.

For Ms Shah, this is in relation to knowing her hours worked did not justify her total payment of £32,400 from October 2015 to September 2016, and entering into an agreement where this money was repaid to Mr Rahman by cash payments or buying him goods.

Both Mr Rahman and Ms Shah have until 7 February 2023 to appeal against their erasure.
