Eye Health UK Welcomes New Trustee

Eye Health UK is delighted to announce the appointment of Jo Holmes FBDO, as trustee and director of the charity. Jo has been elected to represent the Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) and replaces Ian Anderson FBDO, who is retiring from the charity’s board after seven years of service.

Jo has more than thirty-years’ experience in optics. She is a dispensing optician and practice manager for an independent optician in Devon. She is also immediate-past president of ABDO and currently chair of ABDO’s Benevolent Fund.

Commenting on the board changes, chair of Eye Health UK, David Cartwright said: “I’m absolutely delighted to welcome Jo to our board, she brings a wealth of skills, experience and knowledge, as well as, a passion for improving the nation’s vision and eye health.

Along with the other members of the board I look forward to working with Jo to develop new and engaging strategies to raise the profile of optics and position eye care firmly at the heart of the public’s health agenda.

I’d also like to thank Ian for the valuable contribution that he has made to the charity over the last seven years. He will be greatly missed and leaves with our very best wishes.”

Jo Holmes comments: “Eye Health UK plays a vital role in promoting positive eye care messages to the public and I’m delighted to be able to play a part in setting the future direction for the charity’s public eye health promotions.”

Jo’s appointment was confirmed at Eye Health UK’s board meeting held on 16 November 2022.
