It is with great sadness that we have learned this recently of the death of Professor Roger Buckley – a leading figure both in Academia and on the GOC where he was a long-standing GOC council member, much admired in the the eye care sector,

He was a key figure in the advancement of optometrist prescribing and an enthusiastic bridge between optometry and ophthalmology.

Erudite, quietly spoken and unfailingly courteous, Roger made a massive contribution to interprofessional collaboration and patient care.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time.
