Newsmedica to highlight Collaborative Support at 100% Optical

Collaborative working to support patient choice under spotlight at 100% Optical

Collaborative working between optometrists and ophthalmologists to support patient choice will come under the spotlight at 100% Optical.

Mr Nigel Kirkpatrick, Medical Director at Newmedica and a consultant ophthalmologist, will talk about delivery of patient-centred care at 100% Optical – the optics show at ExCel London – on Monday 27 February.

He will consider the patient journey through a modern cataract pathway in the lecture called ‘Working collaboratively to make the big decisions in cataract surgery’, expanding on how patient choice is brought to the forefront – particularly for the topic of intraocular lens choice.

‘By working together and recognising the skills we all bring, we can deliver better outcomes for patients,’ says Mr Kirkpatrick. ‘I am looking forward to speaking at 100% Optical and engaging directly with optical colleagues on this important topic.

‘Referrers will have the chance to ask their own questions of our consultants at the Newmedica stand at 100% Optical, which is stand L320 in Hall 1 of ExCel London.’

Mr Kirkpatrick is an original partner of Newmedica, which has been providing ophthalmology support for the NHS for more than 10 years. His interests are the management of intraocular disease, including cataract surgery, secondary lens implant procedures, revision surgery for complications and retinal disease, including vitrectomy surgery and management of age-related macular degeneration.
