New BCLA certificate on fundamentals of contact lenses

New certificate will ensure practitioners understand the fundamentals of contact lenses

Eye care professionals can stay up-to-date with the current evidence base in contact lenses and anterior eye thanks to a new online course launched by the BCLA.

The certificate in the Fundamentals of Contact Lenses focuses on clinical skills used in everyday practice, and features content from some of the papers published in the original BCLA CLEAR™ initiative.

The new course allows BCLA members to gain CPD points while working towards a certificate and can also count towards BCLA Fellowship.

Luke Stevens-Burt, chief executive of the BCLA, said: “We are always keen to help our members improve their clinical expertise which in turn enhances the patient experience; the certificate in the Fundamentals of Contact Lenses does exactly that.

“This new course is the latest addition to the suite of learning resources available to our members, following on from the success of other certificates in myopia management and dry eye disease which have been completed by hundreds of eye care professionals.

“The certificate is aimed at any optometrist or contact lens optician who wishes to make sure that they are up-to-date with the current evidence base in contact lenses and anterior eye; helping to ensure that you are giving the best service you can to your contact lens patients.”

The course is free for all full members of the BCLA, including access to all course materials and additional resources.”

If you are not a full member of the BCLA and would like to complete this course, you can join the BCLA online at www.bcla.org.uk. Alternatively, you can join or upgrade your existing membership subscription by contacting membership@bcla.org.uk
