Menopause guidance from ABDO

ABDO launches menopause guidance

The Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) has developed new menopause guidance to help members and employers.

ABDO’s Clinical Lead Max Halford says, “ABDO is committed to ensuring the health, safety and well-being of its members, employees and the patients we care for, ensuring everyone is treated with dignity and respect.

With this is mind, the organisation has developed guidance to support members who are affected in any way by the menopause, to support and inform their managers and ensure that people reporting issues are treated fairly and given appropriate support.”

The guidance addresses menopause symptoms, legislation relating to menopause, and the responsibilities of employers and employees. It also offers guidance for managers’ discussions with employees and suggested adjustments for specific issues.

Alongside this, you can download a template for a confidential discussion between manger and employee, and a list of supporting resources.

The guidance will be followed by a focus on eyes and the menopause in ABDO’s public outreach campaign, eyecareFAQ, in February.

There will also be a Focus on … Menopause upcoming in ABDO’s Clinical Hub in March along with inclusion of menopause where relevant in ABDO CPD.
