GOC suspends Perth based optometrist
The General Optical Council (GOC), the UK regulator for optometrists and dispensing opticians, has decided to suspend Mary Docherty, an optometrist based in Perth, from its register for 12 months.
A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found her fitness to practise impaired by reason of misconduct, deficient professional performance and in the wider public interest.
This is in relation to a range of clinical failings over a period of several years.
Ms Docherty has until 28 June 2022 to appeal her suspension.
