GOC suspends Bristol based optometrist

The General Optical Council (GOC), the UK regulator for optometrists and dispensing opticians, has decided to suspend Alistair Aiken, an optometrist based in Bristol, from its register for six months.

A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found his fitness to practise impaired on both the grounds of public protection and in the wider public interest. This is in relation to sending indecent and/or inappropriate images and videos of a sexual nature to female work colleagues, including two aged under 18 at the time.

Mr Aiken has until 1 December 2022 to appeal his suspension.
