GOC suspends Birmingham based student optometrist
The General Optical Council (GOC), the UK regulator for optometrists and dispensing opticians, has decided to suspend Shahid Sujawal, a student optometrist based in Birmingham, from its register for nine months.
A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found his fitness to undertake training impaired by reason of misconduct. This is in relation to falsifying several patients’ records.
Mr Sujawal has until 29 March 2022 to appeal his suspension.
