ESSILORLUXOTTICA launches new live CPD Programme
EssilorLuxottica is launching a new programme of live, interactive CPD sessions on its online learning platform, Leonardo, designed to help strengthen patient communication and enhance essential people skills.
The introduction of live learning marks an important step in EssilorLuxottica’s ambition to deliver a learning ecosystem that supports eye care professionals at every stage of their journey. The platform is the perfect complement to the large selection of face-to-face topics already delivered by EssilorLuxottica’s specially trained CPD team, allowing a full range of subjects and formats to be covered.
Its first live session, ‘What Do They Want? Patient Communication Mastery’, will be hosted by optometrist, key opinion leader and accredited coach, Peter Greedy on 9 July at 7pm and offers one interactive CPD point. Open to all eye care professionals, the session aims to help practitioners better understand patient needs, build stronger connections and create more meaningful patient experiences.
Sameen Qayyum, Leonardo Vision Care Training Expert at EssilorLuxottica, said: “While clinical expertise remains fundamental, skills such as communication, emotional intelligence and trust-building are increasingly becoming central to delivering exceptional patient care.
“These capabilities are fundamental to creating meaningful patient experiences – supporting stronger loyalty, enhancing professional reputation, and contributing to the overall success of the practice.
“Recognising this, we have expanded our CPD offering to support ECPs in developing the skills that sit alongside clinical knowledge, ensuring professionals are equipped to meet the demands of today’s patient journey.”
Key topics include:
- Emotional intelligence and its role in patient care
- Building trust and strengthening patient relationships
- Removing bias to better understand individual needs
- Developing expert questioning techniques
- Listening to understand, not simply to respond
Peter Greedy said: “This session is designed to help ECPs truly understand what their patients need, not only clinically, but emotionally. When we improve how we connect, we improve every outcome that follows.”

Building on a growing CPD ecosystem
The live sessions build on the success of Leonardo’s self-study CPD area, which launched last year.
Since its introduction, the platform has continued to expand, with a growing library of accessible educational content designed to support ongoing professional development. More recently, Leonardo has introduced a dedicated soft skills curriculum in partnership with respected industry leaders including Peter Greedy, Sheena Tanna-Shah, Samantha Strong and Paul Chapman-Hatchett.
The programme reflects the challenges and opportunities faced by modern ECPs, with key topics covering wellbeing and resilience, professional pathways and career development, inclusive patient care, managing professional conflict, and building stronger patient relationships through effective communication.
Sameen Qayyum, added: “Developing soft skills is no longer optional. It is essential for delivering high-quality, patient-centred care and for supporting the long-term growth of our profession. By combining flexible digital learning with expert-led live sessions, Leonardo is creating a blended approach to CPD that supports ECPs throughout their professional journey.”
