ECPS SWITCH to VARILUX® XR SERIES™

Essilor has confirmed its newest generation of varifocal lens, Varilux® XR series™, will replace the current Varilux® X series™ this September so ECPs can switch to its most advanced lens yet.

Varilux® XR series™, which launched in the UK in June is described as Essilor’s most high-tech lens by harnessing the power of behavioural artificial intelligence (AI) to deliver the first eye-responsive¹ progressive lens for instant sharpness even in motion².

Alan Pitcher, commercial director for wholesale lenses said: “Varilux® XR series™ is our most innovative product in the brand’s portfolio and the switching plan allows our ECP business partners to continue offering patients the very best solution to enhance visual acuity for patients.”

Essilor’s R&D team of scientists created a digital twin to capture the exact detail that a wearer needs a spectacle lens to deliver on to them and then built this insight into the lens with XR-motion™ technology.

By predicting the visual behaviour of the patient and bringing binocular optimisation to the next level, XR-motion™ technology reduces the optical disparities between the two lenses and ensures precise positioning of the focus zones adapted to each wearer.

As a result, Varilux® XR series™ lenses offer instant visual sharpness, with adaptation from the first day and natural ocular navigation².
