College Annual Report and forthcoming AGM
The College of Optometrist’s AGM, will take place on Monday 29 April during Optometry Tomorrow 2024.
They will be celebrating some key highlights from the year as well as hearing from their President and welcoming our new Council members and College Officers.

The College’s latest Annual Report, has also been published which showcases how much they have achieved during the last membership year, all thanks to their member’s support.
Among the highlights the College expressed were :
We updated 29 Clinical Management Guidelines to support evidence-based clinical decision making in practice.- Members completed over 20,000 College CPD courses and 3,600 members attended our events.
- We developed CLiP (Clinical Learning in Practice), the work placement element of the new master’s degree in optometry, in partnership with 12 universities.
- Increasing numbers of members successfully completed one or more of our higher qualifications, and the Therapeutic Common Final Assessment (Independent Prescribing) exam.
- We celebrated one year since the launch of our Workforce Vision, that focuses on optometrists being at the heart of patient-centred eye care in the UK.
- Our public-facing cost of living campaign, encouraging the public to prioritise their eye health, gained significant public interest and media coverage.
- Support for the College continued to grow, which is reflected in our membership increasing by 4.2%.
