Call for new board members at CAIPE

Call for new board members at CAIPE

The Centre for the Advancement of Interprofessional Education (CAIPE) launched its new strategy back in November 2022, focusing on four priority areas: Research; Standard Setting; Faculty Development; and Translation of Evidence into Practice. CAIPE Strategy

Since then, the CAIPE board and members have been busy taking these priorities forward.  In order to continue this work and strategic direction, and are seeking new members to the board. Following a skills audit amongst our current board members, we are keen to hear from clinicians and people with additional skills in these areas:

  1. marketing/public relations
  2. understanding of digital technologies/digital infrastructure
  3. quantitative and mixed research methods

In addition, they seek candidates who are reflective of our local communities, in relation to diversity and background. We are committed to increasing the diversity of our board to ensure rich debate, diversity of thought and innovative solutions to achieving best practice in interprofessional education and collaborative practice.

If you would like to join us on our exciting journey, we would welcome your expression of interest as follows.

  1. If you have any of these skills and would like to express your interest in joining the board then please submit your expression of interest (500 words max) and send to admin@caipe.org. Please include your contact details.
  1. If you want to know more about what it means to be CAIPE board member, then click here.
  1. If you want to ask something or set up a brief chat with an existing board member, then contact admin@caipe.org for an informal discussion.

Bob Hutchinson, a newly nominated  Associate Board Member who has worked with CAIPE for some years whilst working at the RSM said, ” I have long thought that Optics Academia could take a stronger interest in CAIPE and inter-professional education. (IPE) . Now we have rapidly become closer to working as teams with ophthalmology, optometry and orthoptics what is evident is a lack of cohesion between the professions that hinders the understanding of each others roles. Learning together about our overlapping tasks would improve health outcomes and patients journeys from diagnosis to their return to social care where necessary. Those of us who have been creating commissioned services with teams or charities looking after homeless or children should consider becoming involved in CAIPE work.”

The deadline for your expression of interest is 3 pm, Thursday 12th October. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for a telephone discussion and advice on next steps.  If you do apply but are unsuccessful in getting a place on the board, then please consider working with the priority groups.
