AOP launches new GOS Compliance Toolkit for Scotland

New free-to-access resource to aid business owners with day-to-day tasks of running a practice

The AOP has launched a new GOS Compliance Toolkit for Scotland, designed to ensure businesses have the correct policies and processes for their NHS compliance visits.

The toolkit is free to everyone in Scotland to use. AOP members can simply log in with their account details. Non-members can register for a free account.

Kevin Wallace, Special Advisor to the AOP, and co-designer of the toolkit, said: “We are delighted to launch this support tool for everyone in Scotland. It is a resource to aid business owners with some of those laborious but essential day-to-day tasks of running a practice.

“Practices in England have benefitted from the availability of a similar support tool for some time. We recognised that this was an inequitable position and we thought it was time that we did something about it. More generally, we know our members are experts in eyecare, but we also know that, like many small business owners, they find some of the administrative requirements to be time-consuming and stressful. We hope that this tool will go some way to helping with that process.

“Anyone who provides NHS GOS services will find the toolkit useful, but we envisage it will be particularly useful for smaller practices. The toolkit has been designed to assist with two key tasks: the checklist, ensuring you have all of the Scottish NHS requirements; and perhaps even more usefully, a policy builder to provide customisable policies to aid that compliance. The policy builder includes the complaints notice, complaints policy, duty of candour policy, data policy, and privacy notice.”
