Advancing paediatric vision care report welcomed

Kirsteen Newman, head of dispensing advancement, Specsavers, has welcomed the publication of a new report from the Association of Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) on paediatric vision care. The report sets out evidence-based insights and best practices for dispensing spectacles to children.

‘Paediatric dispensing is a specialist area of practice, and it’s encouraging to see this new paper from the ABDO reinforcing that important message,’ says Kirsteen.

‘The work from Dr Alicia Thompson, ABDO’s research director, is a valuable contribution, clearly demonstrating that when clinical expertise is combined with thoughtful, child-centred design, there is a real opportunity to improve both adherence and long-term visual outcomes for children.
