“Volunteers’ week” celebration     1-7 June

National Volunteer Week is celebrated from 1-7 June and Vision Care for Homeless People is at the forefront of sending out a huge “Thank You” to all of the people and businesses which make the charity so successful.

“What better time to send a heartfelt message to all of our wonderful supporters – thank you from everyone at VCHP,” said Volunteer Operations Manager, Helen Harms.

“We are supported by an army of unpaid optometrists, DOs, clinic managers and fundraisers who have worked so hard to re-open the regional clinics after the pandemic.  With homeless figures sadly increasing year on year we are so grateful for the support of the profession and the generous donations from the optical industry,” she added.

VCHP is in urgent needed of volunteer optometrists for the Birmingham, Exeter, Gloucester, Leeds and Manchester clinics.  Dispensing Opticians and clinic assistants are needed across some centres.

“Now up and running again and serving the local communities, VCHP clinics rely on volunteers and we would love to hear from anyone who has a half a day a month to spare.  It is a very rewarding way to utilise all that training, and to reach out to people who are so in need of help,” added Helen.
