Vision care launches appeal with “when i needed a neighbour”
All aspects of optics UK came together for an online event this week – VCHP Building Our Community in 2022 – uniting volunteers, supporters, trustees and those who could give voice to the homeless community.
Andrew Brandi, Sales Manager of Topcon and a great ambassador and fundraiser for VCHP expressed the mood –
“I couldn’t think of a better charity to support and I will continue to contribute for as long as I can, and however I can.”
Peter Reeve, Managing Director of STEPPER EYEWEAR, which has sponsored the Manchester and Leeds clinics concurred –
“It is very humbling to do something in our own small way to make a difference. I have been delighted to meet the team at the clinics and the people they are helping.”
Hosted by Anthony Blackman, VCHP Trustee, the event laid out details for:
*The fundraising Optoversity Challenge on 27 February 2022, which will again be an online event for UK optometry students
*Ambitious plans to reach 40% of the homeless community with details of new clinics in the pipeline for Gloucester and East London
*All those taking part in the online event were encouraged to spread the word and get others to join – either as volunteers or fundraisers
The event culminated with the launch of the charity’s Christmas appeal: a collaboration with Brighton College’s chamber choir of 40 voices. The students’ recording of “When I Needed A Neighbour” is supported with film footage from the VCHP clinics. Click here to listen:
