Specsavers opens its 350th Audiology business
Since launching its first audiology service 23 years ago, a newly opened practice in Retford becomes Specsavers 350th hearing care business.
The recently expanded Specsavers store on Retford’s Market Place is now offering audiology services in response to an increased demand for hearing care in the Bassetlaw community.
To mark the official opening a ribbon cutting ceremony took place on Friday 16 January, with Charlotte Hall, Specsavers Audiology managing director doing the honours. She was joined by Deputy Mayor of East Retford, Cllr Malachi Carroll and Chair of Retford Business Forum, Rick Brand.
Audiology partner, Mike Oxley, welcomed members of the community as the new business opened its doors, alongside retail partners, Janet Archer and James Hardwick and optometrist partners, Stephen Archer and Priyen Kotecha. Like all Specsavers businesses, the Retford practice is owned and run by the optometrists, audiologists and retail directors who work there.
Headed up by Mike, who has been with Specsavers since 2006, the new hearing care business is a real family affair. Mike’s Dad, Chris Oxley, who has also been with Specsavers for more than 25 years and was formally audiology director at Specsavers Chesterfield, is also part of the audiology team. Mike’s wife Sam, who will qualify as a hearing aid dispenser in April, completes the team and once she’s qualified, will become an audiology partner alongside Mike.
Commenting on the opening, Mike says: ‘We are delighted to be offering a dedicated hearing service for the people of Retford and surrounding areas. We have all worked really hard to create a space to make people feel comfortable and reassured when they visit us. We’re excited to grow the business and provide the very best hearing care for our customers.’
