SightCare appoints Stephen Bolland to its Board of Directors

The SightCare Board is delighted to announce the appointment of Stephen Bolland as a Director of SightCare, following his successful election at the organisation’s Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 28 January 2026.

Stephen is an owner and the practice manager of longstanding SightCare member practice W J Henderson Optometrists and brings many years of hands-on experience as an independent practice owner operating at the heart of his local community.

Based in Perth, Stephen’s appointment further strengthens SightCare’s commitment to supporting members across Scotland and the North of England, ensuring that regional perspectives continue to play a central role in shaping the organisation’s strategy and direction.

Stephen succeeds David Cunning, who has stepped down from the Board for personal reasons. The Board would like to thank David for his valued contribution and commitment to SightCare during his time as a Director.

Garrey Hasse, Chair of SightCare, said:

“I am delighted to welcome Stephen to the SightCare Board. As a highly respected independent practice owner and longstanding member, he brings an invaluable member-led perspective, grounded in real-world experience. Stephen’s insight will play an important role as we continue to support and strengthen independent practices, particularly across Scotland and the North of England.”

Stephen Bolland said:

“Becoming a Director feels like a natural way to give something back to a community from which I’ve gained so much. Independent optometry is strongest when we work collaboratively, and I’m proud to contribute my experience to help ensure SightCare members across the UK continue to feel supported and connected.”
