Revitalid and DemEx which are offered in the new BlefaCalm Plus Pack
In-practice kit and at-home pack launched for dry eye
The BlefaCalm Eyelid Treatment Kit has been launched by Positive Impact as an in-practice solution for dry eye, meibomian gland dysfunction, demodex infestation and inflammation. It provides immediate relief from symptoms, demonstrating its effectiveness from the first use.
The new BlefaCalm Eyelid Treatment Kit, produced by Tiedra Pharmaceuticals in Spain, features a pre-treatment heat mask, the BlefaCalm Eye Patch and the advanced lid-cleaning BlefaCalm Gel, which is preservative-free. The kit includes ampoules of sterile isotonic solution, four gauze pads, two cleaning swabs and a surgical towel.
The BlefaCalm Kit’s single-use heated eye mask is air-activated to pre-warm the meibomian glands before professional eyelid cleaning. Using the kit’s swab applicators, the gel is applied to gently debride biofilm from the eyelid margins, swiftly addressing inflammation, redness and dry, flaky skin. It delivers clinical improvement in minutes, ensuring immediate results for the patient. The procedure has minimal chair time and is recommended for maintenance every six to 12 months.
Highly praised by practitioners for its efficacy, the new BlefaCalm Kit offers a comprehensive in-practice treatment solution.
For those seeking a complete post-treatment therapy for at-home maintenance, the BlefaCalm Plus Pack has also been launched. It offers the contents of the kit but comes with an additional DemEx Solution lid cleansing foam and Revitalid hypochlorous spray.
The DemEx Solution foam cleanser was formulated by optometrist Dr Craig Wilcox for potent, yet gentle, eyelid cleansing. It harnesses the power of terpinene-4-ol, the active component of tea tree oil which effectively targets demodex mites.
Positive Impact’s Managing Director, Nick Atkins, explained that the Plus pack was developed for ongoing cleaning following a professional deep eyelid clean in the practice, which is crucial for eradicating demodex.
Referring to extensive scientific research, he emphasised that the gold standard for demodex treatment involves a six-week regimen of tea tree oil treatments to eliminate the parasite’s two life cycles.
The Plus Pack includes the Revitalid spray, also developed by Dr Wilcox, which helps with inflammation, relieves dry eyes and styes and reduces red, itchy eyelids caused by blepharitis or meibomian gland dysfunction. Hypochlorous acid reduces the bacterial load around the eyes by over 90 per cent.
Ongoing supplies of DemEx and Revitalid can be purchased by the patient from the practice, shipped directly to the patient’s home, or purchased via Positive Impact’s DryEyeZone online shop.
