Looking forwards to seeing you at MANCHESTER, 9 June 2023

Contact lens and eye health professionals are gathering at the Manchester Central convention complex for the British Contact Lens Association (BCLA) Clinical Conference & Exhibition 2023. Among them are scientists, clinicians and executives from Platinum-level sponsor CooperVision. The company’s presence highlights how it improves lives, one person at a time, through its comprehensive suite of product options, myopia management innovation and research, and breakthroughs in sustainability.

“We appreciate the difference eye care professionals (ECPs) can make to people’s lives with contact lenses, helping improve their self-confidence and offering a sense of freedom. It’s a passion for improving lives that we share. Every patient is different and every eye is unique, and at this year’s event we are demonstrating CooperVision’s support of ECPs to meet their patients’ needs,” said Debbie Olive, President – EMEA, CooperVision.

Throughout the conference, CooperVision’s clinical, scientific and educational contributions, as well as their exhibition participation, will focus on this common goal – from everyday single-vision correction to more complex prescriptions and eye condition needs; from tackling myopia progression to driving tangible actions in sustainability.

More options for more patients

With CooperVision contact lens options available to provide correction for 99.96% of all prescriptions,*1 delegates will be able to explore ways to meet virtually every vision correction need.*1 The CooperVision team will be on hand to discuss the company’s sphere, toric, multifocal and toric multifocal lens designs, soft lens and orthokeratology myopia management products, as well as scleral lenses and other specialty care options designed for more complex eye conditions.

CooperVision’s comprehensive core soft contact lens portfolio brings with it the widest range of prescription options,3 with over 900,000 parameters,4 including stock and made-to-order lenses to meet an extensive range of vision correction needs.

Innovation and research in myopia management

With myopia growing in both prevalence and severity5, there is an urgency to act now to slow the worsening of myopia6. This event will see the company showcase its innovation through its portfolio of evidence-based myopia interventions, including MiSight® 1 day contact lenses and its extensive orthokeratology line up.

There will also be a strong clinical research focus, with CooperVision’s experts and partners speaking about various elements of advancing myopia control and management.

Breakthroughs in sustainability

With high-grade plastic polymers being essential in the manufacture of contact lenses and their packaging, sustainability is a topic CooperVision will be sharing with those attending the conference’s exhibition.

Visitors to CooperVision’s stand will have the opportunity to learn more about the company’s four-point approach to plastic circularity; Design – leveraging circularity by design; Source – shifting to renewable inputs where possible; Recover – reclaiming and recycling products at end of life; and Offset – reversing the negative impacts of ocean-bound plastic.

Detailed information on the company’s ‘Certified Plastic Neutral’ offsetting programme7, already live in 27 countries, will be available. To date, thanks to the partnership of ECPs around the world, the equivalent of over 160 million plastic bottles have been prevented from entering the world’s oceans8. Alongside this, to date 345 communities have benefited from the programme8.

Scientific and Industry Education Leadership

BCLA 2023 also presents CooperVision with the opportunity to share further scientific advancements with ECPs and research peers. With over 20 research papers and posters, as well as a number of presentations and panels, the company will be highlighting a range of scientific initiatives and findings. These include a range of studies that highlight opportunities for contact lens fitting with more patients, plus multiple advances in myopia control and management.

“No single announcement can capture the full extent of our participation in the BCLA Conference this year, nor should it,” said Olive. “We invite attendees to fully immerse themselves in the incredible opportunities in Manchester, many of which we are proud to host and champion.”

7 Plastic neutrality is established by purchasing credits from Plastic Bank. A credit represents the collection and conversion of one kilogram of plastic that may reach or be destined for waterways. CooperVision purchases credits equal to the weight of plastic in our-one day contact lens orders. One-day contact lens plastic is determined by the weight of plastic in the blister, the lens and the secondary package (outer carton), including laminates, adhesives, and auxiliary inputs (e.g., ink).
