Obituary for Dave Berberian

A Life of Dedication and Impact

Dave died of Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) a fatal type of motor neuron disease. It causes progressive degeneration of nerve cells in the spinal cord and brain. It’s often called Lou Gehrig disease after a famous baseball player who died from the disease. ALS is one of the most devastating types of disorders that affect nerve and muscle function.

Many of you will remember Dave from his time in the UK running Allergan and the freshness he brought to the UK market – some of you will also have worked with him during his time here.

Message from his daughters Silva and Ani

Dear Everyone,

We  wanted to reach out to let you know our Dad passed away this past Tuesday.  By the time of his passing, ALS had sapped him of his ability to walk, talk and swallow water or food. It was difficult to witness, let alone for Dave (aka Sam) to endure for the last few months. I am glad many of you were able to talk to him recently or at least say hello on FaceTime. It gave him much happiness and tears of joy.

Our Dad’s wishes are to be cremated. Ever the planner, he had most details of his memorial pre-planned and we’d like to do things the way he wanted. In order to plan a special  and meaningful celebration, we will gather in his honor on Saturday, June 28 for a Celebration of Dave Berberian’s Life.

The services and luncheon will be held at the St. Mary Armenian Apostolic Church in Costa Mesa, California. More details soon, but plan to make a weekend out of it,  just the way our Dad would have liked because he loved planning parties and reunions.  We can share stories and sweet memories as we reconnect the family and friends he held so dear all his life.
