New ‘global ambassadors’ needed to grow BCLA around the world

BCLA Global Ambassadors

A new network of global ambassadors will extend the worldwide reach of the BCLA and galvanise its vision to bring the international contact lens and anterior eye health community closer together than ever before.

BCLA Fellows living outside of the UK are being invited to apply for one of the new roles, which will see individuals given the opportunity to play a key role in amplifying the BCLA’s commitment to global knowledge sharing, education and networking.

Luke Stevens-Burt, chief executive of the BCLA, said: “2021 is an important year for the BCLA and the contact lens and anterior eye community – we deliver our clinical conference and exhibition in a virtual format across four different time zones meaning we can reach a wider audience than ever before.

“We are asking Fellows of the BCLA to help us reach a wider global audience by sharing our news and updates with your professional networks across your region. You will play a key role in bringing research, skills and knowledge development to like-minded professionals with an interest in contact lens and anterior eye care.”

Initially focussing on continents, the BCLA will appoint two or three ambassadors in Europe, Middle East/Africa, Asia, Australasia, and the Americas, with the potential to create smaller regions in the future.

Applicants will need to hold a current FBCLA, be of good professional standing and be passionate about contact lenses and/or the anterior eye and have strong networks in your local region and beyond, while highly valuing BCLA membership and its products and services

The role will last for an initial 18 months and successful applicants will be required to actively promote the BCLA in their region, advise the BCLA about regional developments and opportunities, attend BCLA events either in person or remotely and share BCLA news and updates to their local professional network.

Ambassadors will have the opportunity to extend their professional network, grow their global profile and receive exclusive discounts for future BCLA conferences

Anyone interested can find out more details at www.bcla.org.ukThe deadline for applications is 24th February 2021.
