Mini Professional Advancement Conferences
Clinicians across sector benefit from Mini Professional Advancement Conferences
CLINICIANS from across the sector have benefitted from this year’s series of Mini Professional Advancement Conferences organised by Specsavers.
The ‘MiniPACs’ saw thousands of continuing professional development (CPD) points delivered between 21 March and 25 June. More than 2,300 delegates registered for the 181 sessions – which were a combination of virtual and physical events – with 32 speakers and 54 facilitators.
The virtual events were open to people inside and outside of Specsavers, with the physical events for Specsavers colleagues.
‘This was our most ambitious and diverse agenda yet,’ says Grant Duncan, Specsavers Director of Professional Development. ‘The series provided great learning and development for all of our professional colleagues, including optometrists and dispensing opticians, with thousands of CPD points delivered.’
All four core CPD domains of professionalism, communication, clinical practice and leadership and accountability, as well as both contact lens optician and therapeutic optometrist specialty domains featured on the programme.
‘The programme was designed to help shape best practice and enhance customer service and used clinical, dispensing and contact lens outcome reports to identify key areas of learning and development,’ adds Mr Duncan.
‘Sessions linked to higher qualifications, enhanced optical services and Independent Prescriber (IP) were all well received and generated lots of great discussions about how to best enhance eyecare. There was also a focus on clinician wellbeing.’
