Specsavers Aberdeen honours long-serving colleagues

SPECSAVERS in Aberdeen has celebrated the commitment of its team who have more than 250 years of service shared between them.

The dedication of colleagues with more than 10 years of service and past director David Quigley, who served at the practice for 25 years, was marked with a special dinner in the city.

David McGinty, Ophthalmic Director at Specsavers Aberdeen, who has 26 years of service, says: ‘Our practice and Specsavers at large, pride ourselves on the extensive career opportunities and the rewarding workplace culture that we have curated over the last 30 years.

‘All of us here are proud of our work which improves the quality of life for people all across the city. I have no doubt that many of my colleagues will be able to say the same in another 25 years.’

Office manager Sara Chenery, who has just celebrated her 25^th year, has also seen her legacy become generational. Her daughter Elle worked with the practice for five years during her school and university years and is now a trainee solicitor. Sara’s son Keane is a trainee audiologist with the practice.

‘I am truly honored to be a part of the Specsavers family. The last 25 years have been an amazing journey and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities and support I have received from my very first day here. I’m sure there will be many more,’ she says

‘I would recommend any young person reach out to see if there is a role at Specsavers where they can be nurtured into lasting and satisfying careers.’

The practice has also treated Sara to a weekend away at the five-star Gleneagles Hotel to unwind after her wedding this summer.

Optometrist Julie Watt has been with the practice for 23 years, as has Supervisor Irene Will while Dave Deans, Senior Lab Technician, has 22 years of service. Dispensing optician Chau-Lin Ho has been with the practice for 14 years, while it is 15 years for Training and Development Manager Marie Anderson.

Assistant General Manager Darren Lorimer, Director Laura Campbell, Retail Manager Lauren Park, Audiologist Mark Rankin and Audiologist director Ian McLellan all have a decade of service. Call centre specialist Patricia Whittet has 20 years of service, with Laboratory Manager Scott Forsyth having 16 years.
