Hospital Optometrists Annual Conference announced
The Association of Optometrists has announced the programme for this year’s Hospital Optometrists Annual Conference (HOAC virtual), supported by Menicon and No7 Contact Lenses.
The virtual conference, offering a dedicated day of online education for those currently working in a hospital environment, or considering it, will take place on Saturday 25 September.
The day will consist of four webinars which will look at ocular oncology referral, emergency eye care, new perspectives on glaucoma and the use of artificial intelligence in predicting eye disease.
AOP Head of Education, Dr Ian Beasley, said: “We’re delighted to be able to facilitate this annual conference for those working in a secondary care setting. One of the key considerations for the sector right now is how we deliver events and training like this one, safely. So being able to run it virtually, without losing the essence of this important conference as a live event, is a real win.”
Dr Beasley continued, saying: “There is a great line up of speakers from diverse settings and backgrounds across the UK – expertly placed to share their insights.”
The programme includes speakers from Cardiff University, Google Health, Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, Moorfields Eye Hospital and the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield.
Each webinar session has capacity for 1000 practitioners. The conference also includes two peer discussions, one of which is specifically for therapeutic prescribers. Spaces on the peer discussions are limited so early registration is advised.
