GOC suspends Sheffield based optometrist from register
The General Optical Council (GOC), the UK regulator for optometrists and dispensing opticians, has decided to suspend Umar Masood, an optometrist based in Sheffield, from its register for four months.
A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found his fitness to practise impaired . This is in relation to failing to appropriately examine and/or assess patients’ eyes and recording findings for examinations not undertaken.
Mr Masood has until 2 April 2025 to appeal against his suspension.
