GOC suspends Salford based student optometrist from register
The General Optical Council (GOC), the UK regulator for optometrists and dispensing opticians, has decided to suspend Zara Shafique, a student optometrist based in Salford, from its register for two months.
A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found her fitness to practise impaired by reason of misconduct. This is in relation to falsifying patient records for a contact lens fitting that had not taken place. The Committee found these actions to be dishonest.
Ms Shafique has until 11 March 2025 to appeal against her suspension.
