GOC suspends Nottingham based optometrist from register

The General Optical Council (GOC), the UK regulator for optometrists and dispensing opticians, has decided to suspend Ravi Bhojwani, an optometrist based in Nottingham, from its register for nine months.

A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found his fitness to practise impaired by reason of misconduct. This is in relation to numerous clinical failings, including not making adequate patient referrals and performing inaccurate refractions. This caused serious harm to one patient, and a risk of serious harm to several others.

Mr Bhojwani has until 19 December 2025 to appeal against his suspension, during which time he is suspended from the register under an immediate suspension order.
