GOC suspends Milton Keynes based optometrist from register

The General Optical Council (GOC), the UK regulator for optometrists and dispensing opticians, has decided to suspend John Singh, a dispensing optician based in Milton Keynes, from its register for 12 months.

A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found his fitness to practise impaired by reason of misconduct. This is in relation to making numerous fraudulent transactions between January 2018 and March 2022. Mr Singh knowingly supplied patients with spectacles that were of a cheaper and/or inferior quality to what they had paid for and/or did not refund the patients with the difference in price. The Committee found these actions to be dishonest.

Mr Singh has until 2 April 2025 to appeal against his suspension.
