GOC suspends Bodedern based dispensing optician
The General Optical Council (GOC), the UK regulator for optometrists and dispensing opticians, has decided to suspend Gary Marshall, a dispensing optician based in Bodedern, Wales from its register for six months.
A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found his fitness to practise impaired on both the grounds of public protection and in the public interest. This is in relation to falling short of GOC Standards in several ways, including by inappropriately modifying the spectacle prescriptions of patients, and failing to obtain the necessary authorisation from an optometrist when altering the prescriptions of patients.
Mr Marshall has until 28 December 2022 to appeal his suspension.
