GOC erases Portland based optometrist from register

The General Optical Council (GOC), the UK regulator for optometrists and dispensing opticians, has decided to erase Helen Lampka, an optometrist based in Portland, from its register.

Ms Lampka was originally suspended in March 2023 for 12 months by the GOC Fitness to Practise Committee due to misconduct.

A review hearing in March 2024 showed that Ms Lampka had shown no evidence of remediation and no meaningful engagement with the fitness to practise process, and she was suspended from the register for a further 12 months. After continuing to show a lack of engagement with the fitness to practise process, Ms Lampka has now been erased from the register.

Ms Lampka’s original suspension in 2023 was in relation to failing to assess and/or accurately record clinical information and failing to refer patients for further examinations.

Ms Lampka has until 7 April 2025 to appeal against her erasure, during which time she continues to be suspended from the register.
