GOC erases Leicester based dispensing optician

The General Optical Council (GOC), the UK regulator for optometrists and dispensing opticians, has decided to erase Zahir Ibrahim, a dispensing optician based in the West Midlands, from its register.

A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found his fitness to practise impaired by reason of misconduct. This is in relation to making misleading claims on Facebook in relation to the application of colour tinted lenses for the treatment of conditions, including autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia, migraine, headaches and multiple sclerosis (MS).

Mr Ibrahim has until 8 September 2022 to appeal his erasure.
