GOC erases Harrow based student dispensing optician from register
The General Optical Council (GOC), the UK regulator for optometrists and dispensing opticians, has decided to erase Naseem Suleman, a student dispensing optician based in Harrow, from its register.
A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found her fitness to train impaired by reason of misconduct. This is in relation to providing false GOC registration numbers to employers to appear as a fully qualified dispensing optician; telling a colleague she was a fully qualified registrant; and carrying out restrictive activities reserved for fully qualified dispensing opticians. The Committee found her conduct to be dishonest.
Ms Suleman has until 10 July 2024 to appeal against her erasure, during which time she is suspended from the register under an immediate suspension order.
