BCLA Webinar will give an introduction to prosthetic lenses

The first BCLA webinar of 2022 will provide an introduction to prosthetic lenses, using patient case studies to highlight the benefits of this emerging technology.

The session will be presented by Andrew Jelly and Karen Hughes, who will report on the various types of ocular prosthetics currently available, concentrating primarily on the types of prosthetic contact lenses that can be fitted in practice.

The pair will discuss the benefits of prosthetic lenses and the conditions which can be successfully treated by using them.

BCLA chief executive Luke Stevens-Burt said: “We look forward to getting our 2022 webinar series off to a fascinating start with this look at the exciting benefits of prosthetic lenses.

“This presentation will explain how to measure the eye and select the most appropriate contact lens design and cosmetic appearance for the needs of the patient and how to discuss the contact lens limitations with the patient.

“The ongoing management of contact lens aftercare and how to support patients with their prosthetic lenses will also be explained.”

The webinar, which is open only to BCLA members, will be held online from 6pm to 7pm on Wednesday, 12 January 2022. CET has been applied for.
