Save the date for ‘BCLA Vision’ – a new conference coming soon

James Wolfssohn
Eye care professionals will be able to hear from world-leading experts on how to integrate tele-optometry into their everyday post-pandemic business as part of a new conference being staged by the BCLA.

‘BCLA Vision’ will be held online on Sunday, 7 November and will feature a number of keynote speakers, including the BCLA Medal address to be delivered by Professor James Wolffsohn and the Pioneers lecture.

A live lecture stream will include sessions on tele-optometry in anterior eye practice, technology that has been accelerated due to the implications of the COVID-19 pandemic. The lecture will discuss how ECPs can integrate tele-optometry into their practice permanently to help care for contact lens and dry eye patients.

Other sessions will look at the ‘business’ of contact lenses and dry eye, exploring the secrets of making them profitable and suggesting business model options practices could employ.

The fully virtual event, which is open to members and non-members of the BCLA, follows on from the live-streamed BCLA Clinical Conference. Everyone who registered for that event will automatically have access to BCLA Vision so will not need to re-register.

BCLA chief executive Luke Stevens-Burt said: “We are delighted to be adding BCLA Vision to our annual calendar of events, following on from the Clinical Conference and once again bringing the expertise of leading global figures to a worldwide audience.

“We have carefully curated a programme featuring the very latest research, with a focus on the innovation and technology available to us today that we should not ignore and that can play a huge part in how we look after contact lens and anterior eye.”

Registration for the event, featuring partner sponsor Alcon and platinum sponsors CooperVision and Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, will be opening in early August with full details on www.bcla.org.uk
