Grafton Optical launches the DEA Dry Eye Analyser from Moptim at 100% Optical 2023; comprehensive analysis for complete Dry Eye diagnosis and management.

See it demonstrated on STAND M325

Grafton Optical are excited to launch the DEA Dry Eye Analyser by Moptim at 100% Optical 2023.

DEA is an innovative device that quickly performs a comprehensive examination for complete dry eye diagnosis and management.

DEA is one of the smallest dry eye diagnostic devices on the market. The compact design makes it easy to be integrated into a variety of clinical environments. It can be operated in three modalities: stand-alone, slit lamp mounted and handheld.

For ophthalmology clinics that already have slit lamps, there is no need to add an extra trolley for DEA. By installing the included slit lamp adaptors, the DEA can be attached to the majority of slit lamps, without affecting their use.

DEA provides complete dry eye diagnosis testing, as recommended by DEWS II (2017). The device offers a quick diagnosis of FBUT/NIBUT, corneal staining, tear meniscus height, meibography, interferometry, bulbar redness and blepharitis.

The built-in DEQ-5 questionnaire can be used in combination with objective findings to aid in diagnosis, and the Efron International Grading Scale helps to assess the severity of dry eye disease.

  • 8 mp high resolution camera
  • Extensive report templates
  • Compatible with the majority of slit lamps
  • Can be used on desktop or handheld
  • Streamlined software workflow
  • Custom protocol creation
  • Auto focus, auto exposure
  • Wireless camera shutter can be fixed to slit lamp joystick

For more information on the Moptim DEA Dry Eye Analyser, please contact sales@graftonoptical.com or call us on 01923 233980.

Displaying time travel with Glasklar

Stand E76

Glasklar UK will be taking visitors back in time at 100% Optical on its stand E76. As part of the celebrations for its 10th anniversary, a special show offer will see Glasklar offered with 2013 pricing.

The novel Glasklar system enables independents to engage with their patients more frequently, using a refillable, practice-branded lens cleaner.

The Glasklar bottles and wall mounts are offered in a variety of colours to match practice colour schemes and are offered with practice details and logos. A new slogan, ‘Sustainability is not only green’ will be unveiled at 100% Optical, emphasising the large colour options available.

A new display system which boosts in practice presentation of Glasklar will also be launched at the London show. The new display has the option of three different finishes, including one with a mirror.

The launch follows the extension to the product line last year which has proved popular with independents as an additional practice sales line. The lens cleaner is now available in a larger 100ml bottle option, which has four times the filling capacity of a regular bottle.

The practice-branded larger bottle is designed for home use by all the spectacle-wearing members of the patient’s family. Free cleaner concentrate is available for all stockists from the UK distributor, Positive Impact.

Positive Impact’s Marketing Manager, Ellie Jarman, said: “We have exhibited Glasklar at 100% Optical every year since the show started, which is almost as long as Glasklar has been available. We invite visitors to go ‘back to the future’ with our exciting new products and celebratory 2013 pricing.”

 STAND B100

Advanced contact lenses and eye health cosmetics

At 100% Optical Positive Impact will be emphasising the benefits of the two unique contact lenses: NaturalVue 1-Day Enhanced Multifocal with TripleTear Lubrication technology and SynergEyes iD, a breakthrough in hybrid contact lens technology for astigmats and astigmatic presbyopes.

CE mark-approved for presbyopia and myopia control, the enhanced NaturalVue lens boasts three comfort agents, including hyaluronic acid, which work together to provide hydration throughout the day.

Positive Impact’s Managing Director, Nick Atkins, said: “Profitability will be a key focus for many practices in the current economic climate and switching to NaturalVue puts profit straight to the bottom line by significantly reducing chair time; not just at the time of fitting, but throughout the lifetime of the patient’s wear.”

SynergEyes iD lenses are individually designed utilising K-readings, horizontal visible iris diameter and refraction, which will be highlighted at the show. The multifocal option is powered by the Brien Holden Vision Institute EDOF design. The new lenses are empirically fitted, eliminating the need for multi-use diagnostic fitting sets and trial lens application, while also reducing chair and contact time.

Positive Impact’s popular Dry Eye Zone will return to their stand B100, featuring the Eyes Are The Story (EATS) optocosmetics previewed last year.

The world’s first optocosmetics makeup and skincare is uniquely focused on eye health. Clinically tested and validated, the Eyes Are The Story formulas were specifically created for dry eye, contact lens wearers and for those with sensitive eyes.

The optocosmetics are endorsed by leading innovators in the field of vision health.

Free samples of the EATS cleanser and serum will be handed out at the show, together with Purifeyes spray, which is seen as the ‘missing link’ in periocular cleansing.

“It is becoming clear that managing ocular surface health needs a more holistic approach. Considering what a patient puts on and around their eyelids, such as potentially toxic cosmetics and lash serums, and then advising them of safer alternatives, is going to help improve outcomes,” Nick concluded.

CooperVision launches ‘Fresh Thinking’ campaign at 100% Optical 2023

Leading manufacturer seeks eye care professionals’ insights to help shape the future of the contact lens patient journey

 Stand L300

Contact lens manufacturer, CooperVision, is set to make an impact with its new campaign, ‘Fresh Thinking’, exhibiting for the first time at 100% Optical 2023, Stand L300, at the London ExCel from 25-27 February 2023.

Despite known wearer benefits of increased freedom and confidence when wearing contact lenses versus spectacles,[1] contact lens wear for vision correction in the UK remains relatively low at 19.6%,[2] and the contact lens category is failing to grow,2 despite huge advances in contact lens materials and fitting technologies.

CooperVision believes more people could be introduced to the benefits of contact lenses if the industry looks at how the contact lens patient journey, which CooperVision suggests has changed very little over several decades, can be made quicker and easier for everyone.

With the launch of ‘Fresh Thinking’ at 100% Optical, CooperVision is excited to be kicking off an industry-wide conversation about how the contact lens patient journey could evolve.

The first stage of the Fresh Thinking campaign is to get as many fresh eyes as possible reviewing the current contact lens patient journey and sharing their thoughts on how effective it is.

At 100% Optical, CooperVision’s stand will have a ‘Fresh Thinking Zone’ with a range of interactive and fun ways for eye care professionals (ECPs) to get involved, including:

Answering a short questionnaire hosted on large touch screens

  • Sharing their experience and views using the bespoke video booth
  • Voting on what is most important to ECPs and patients on a magnetic polling wall
  • Playing the ‘buzz wire’ game that takes a light-hearted look at the twists and turns of getting a patient into contact lenses
  • Enjoying a fresh smoothie at the bar whilst completing a more in-depth questionnaire accessible on mobile, with the chance to win one of three £100 Amazon vouchers*
  • Joining one of many CPD workshops and non-CPD discussion groups that will include discussion on the contact lens patient journey
  • Discussing the contact lens patient journey and more with CooperVision Business Development Managers, Myopia Management Specialists, Specialty Eyecare Managers and Professional Affairs Consultants who will all be available on stand.

Doug Bairner, Country Manager, UK&I, CooperVision
commented: “As an exhibitor at 100% Optical 2023, we’re looking forward to having practical conversations on stand with delegates about the reality of fitting contact lenses. We believe that it’s our job, as a leader in both the European and UK contact lens categories, to show eye care professionals how simply and easily contact lenses can provide freedom to their patients, deliver great clinical outcomes, and at the same time demonstrate significantly improved commercial value for practice owners.”

CooperVision is committed to ‘Fresh Thinking’ as a multi-year, industry wide campaign that can benefit every patient and practice. The first phase, launched at 100% Optical, is to get fresh eyes looking at the patient journey; the second phase will be to share with the entire industry what has been discovered, before moving to the third phase that looks at options to improve the products, tools and services that create the contact lens patient journey.

For eye care professionals who are unable to attend 100% Optical 2023 and wish to have their say, the questionnaire and further information about the ‘Fresh Thinking’ campaign can be found at https://coopervision.co.uk/practitioner/patient-experience-campaign

*Prize draw is optional. Draw closes on 31.03.23. Respondents will be selected at random to win one of three £100 Amazon vouchers. Promoter: Flame Health and CooperVision Limited. No respondent information will be shared with CooperVision; responses will be analysed and shared with CooperVision at an aggregated level only. Full terms and conditions here.

[2] Vision Needs Monitor 2021

Also at the show CooperVision, are thrilled to be an AOP education partner at 100% Optical 2023.

This is a fantastic opportunity to engage with a clinically diverse audience and inspire them to prescribe the freedom that contact lenses can bring to both children and adults.

“CooperVision will be using 100% Optical as a platform to deliver 14 hours of CPD opportunities to over 400 eye care professionals. Our sessions will include a fresh view on the contact lens patient journey, contact lens patient retention, myopia management, and a lifetime of successful contact lens wear.”

Christina Olner BSc(Hons) MCOptom MBCLA, UK&I, CooperVision

“As an exhibitor at 100% Optical 2023, we’re looking forward to having practical conversations on stand with delegates about the reality of fitting contact lenses.

We believe that it’s our job, as the number one manufacturer in both the European and UK contact lens categories, to show eye care professionals how simply and easily contact lenses can provide freedom to their patients, deliver great clinical outcomes, and at the same time demonstrate significantly improved commercial value for practice owners.”

Doug Bairner, Country Manager, UK&I, CooperVision

“At 100% Optical 2023 we’ll be launching a campaign that focuses on how we might work with the industry to improve and optimise the contact lens patient journey.

The campaign entitled ‘fresh’ will be asking delegates to share their thoughts on current practice and capture their ideas for a more modern approach. It’s an exciting prospect to work on this subject at a category level.”

Safilens was founded in Italy in 2001 to create innovative, high quality products in the contact lens sector.

Come and experience the true value of the company it being the excellence of its Research & Development department.

Safilens believes in the value of Italian know-how, of research and of pharmaceutical technology, to generate innovative solutions.

Since yesterday, our today has been to think about tomorrow. We work with experience, but we never stop looking forward, in our search for products, services and solutions that will genuinely improve people’s quality of life

Delivery Tyro –  will take Safilens into the arena of Myopia Management.

DELIVERY TYRO

The first product in the family Delivery is DELIVERY TYRO, a daily contact lens with biological functions, designed to release Lachryceuticals®, natural substances that can influence some physiological processes.

DELIVERY TYRO lenses, not only correct myopia, but also favour normalization of the development of the eye by the constant release of Tyrosine onto the anterior segment of the eye during wear.

Tyrosine is a semi-essential amino acid, capable of passing through the blood-ocular barrier, and by being its precursor, promotes the natural production of Dopamine. The adequate presence of Dopamine inside the retina has been shown to have an important normalizing effect in ocular development, in particular an inhibitory effect on the elongation of the eyeball.

Similarly, its low production/presence, often caused by excessive accommodative effort and inadequate exposure to the beneficial wavelengths of natural light, was found to be concomitant with refractive errors related to eye particular anatomical conditions such as myopia.

During the production process, Safilens introduces functional substances into the lens matrix that are gradually released into the eye. These include macromolecular polysaccharides as tear film substitutes – such as Hyaluronic acid and TSP® – and tyrosine.  The release of these gels present in the lens occurs primarily due to three factors: body temperature, blinking and eyelid pressure that cooperate in the release of these substances into the eye.

DELIVERY TYRO daily disposable lenses also make it possible to ensure safety, hygiene and simplicity of use for wearers of all ages, including youth and children.

The biochemical approach helps mitigate the risk factors in proper ocular development resulting from the modern lifestyle.

Stand B150

We look forward to returning to 100% optical 2023!

Whilst recent economic changes have caused some concern, independent optical practices appear to be positively thriving. Their resilience in the face of a more challenging economic backdrop is quite remarkable and once again demonstrates the professions ability to adapt and overcome.

Looking forward, it is always important to make strategic plans to improve and grow in order to sustain your long-term future and 2023 is no different.

Most economists believe the Bank of England base rate will reach 4.5% or more over the next few months, It therefore makes commercial sense to lock in to one of our fixed rate finance options as soon as possible.

Whatever your plans; new equipment, practice refurbishment, practice acquisition, talk to Performance Finance and secure one of our highly competitive fixed rate funding packages.

Do not forget, the deadline for super-deduction tax relief is the 31/03/2023.

  • What is super-deduction?

For purchases between 1 April 2021 until 31 March 2023, companies that pay corporation tax will be eligible to offset 130% of the asset value against their taxable profit in the first year.

  • What does this mean for optical practices?

This is excellent news for optical practices wishing to invest in equipment, shop fit and technology!

We can also help you with VAT de Minimis, you can find a very useful guidance video for this on our website.

VAT de Minimis can also be discussed with our dedicated account managers Susan Marshall and Pete George. They will always offer the most cost-effective and tax efficient finance product to suit your business.

Thinking of starting a new practice?

We have a new start funding hub on our website, ideal for opticians and ophthalmologists starting their own practice.

There are tips for underwriting expectations, guidance for executive summaries, cash flow forecasts and much more.

This is a fantastic tool that will help guide you through the next step in your career.

We are not your typical finance company…

We understand our clients require an elevated level of personal service delivered efficiently from a finance provider that has detailed knowledge of their profession.

Our direct lending facility allows us to be very flexible and accommodating for all circumstances, whether you are starting your journey, or looking to expand your business, we complete arrangements with speed, efficiency, and flexibility which is why have a 5.0 excellent Trust Pilot rating.
