BIB Ophthalmic Instruments

Stand H10.

Delegates can expect to see live demonstrations of the latest clinical and diagnostic instruments, with opportunities to get hands-on with new technology and learn about brand-new product launches.

There will be exclusive show offers on all equipment and consumables, plus a prize draw to win an Optopol PTS Visual Field Analyser as well as CPD educational sessions.

One of the new product launches includes the Visionix VX625 Ultra-wide field (UWF) retinal imaging device. The VX625 provides a much more comprehensive view of the retina, allowing for the detection of diseases that might be missed with traditional methods. Capturing up to 95% of the retina, without needing pupil dilation, it provides the widest of views enabling earlier diagnosis and better management of various eye conditions.

The device is the most compact of its type, even smaller than traditional fundus camera’s, fitting easily into any practice environment and with a low flash level it further improves patient comfort and compliance.

An exciting new launch at the show will include Essilor® Stellest® 2.0 lenses, its most efficacious spectacle lens to date for slowing myopic eye growth in children1.

There will be a strong emphasis on wearable technology on the stand, with the range on display, including Ray-Ban® Meta and the recently launched Oakley Meta – both AI powered smartglasses – and the invisible hearing solution, Nuance Audio™.

A hand-picked collection of new frames from the company’s wide portfolio will be displayed featuring Ray-Ban®, Oakley®, Emporio Armani, Diesel, Armani Exchange, Ralph by Ralph Lauren, Polo by Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, Ferrari Cavallino and Swarovski.

The latest lenses will also be available to view including Varilux® XR series™, Essilor® Stellest® lenses, Transitions® GEN S™ and Eyezen®.

Education at the show

A big focus area during the show is education and Leonardo, EssilorLuxottica’s online learning platform, is delighted to be sponsoring this year’s 100% Optical Academy and delivering two CPD sessions.

  • ‘Clear vision, clear choices – managing digital eye strain and presbyopia’ lecture with discussion workshop, Optical Academy – Saturday 28th Feb at 2pm

Join this session to build confidence in managing digital eye strain and presbyopia in everyday practice. The session will explore the clinical value of prescribing low adds for patients experiencing digital visual fatigue and emerging presbyopia, as well as the benefits of personalised varifocals for presbyopes at any stage. Through group discussions using case examples, this session will illustrate how tailored recommendations can improve comfort and reduce non-tolerance.

  • ‘Dinner Party Dispensing’ Peer Review, Dispensing Workshop – Sunday, 1st March at 10:30am

This session will centre on making the best dispensing recommendations through engaging, scenario-based discussions featuring well-known characters. Learners will assess each character’s needs and propose suitable products or treatments, sharpening their clinical reasoning and communication skills. Midway through each case, the facilitator introduces a “dispensing curveball “a new twist that alters the patient’s context, challenging learners to rethink and adapt their recommendations in real time.

Two non-CPD sessions will also be delivered on the OSA stand:

  • Smart Eyewear: Where Vision Meets Intelligence – Saturday 28th Feb at 3.30pm
  • Better Together: Optics and Acoustics – Sunday 1st March at 2pm

Practical CPD for optometrists on glaucoma, AMD, lenses and care models at 100% Optical

STAND J50

CPD sessions on integrated care, glaucoma, AMD and cataract surgery lenses will be delivered by experts from Newmedica, who provide NHS and private ophthalmology services, during 100% Optical 2026.

Sessions take place at Newmedica’s stand J50 and the main stage during the show at London Excel between 28 February and 2 March 2026.

Attendees at 100% Optical can also have the chance to ‘have a go’ at cataract surgery through a synthetic eye demonstration and meet Newmedica consultants at its stand.

‘Our CPD sessions are designed to help delegates feel more confident in managing a range of different scenarios and improving patient care through practical examples and learning,’ says Newmedica medical director Nigel Kirkpatrick.

There will be workshop titled: ‘Beyond the pressure: recognising normal tension glaucoma and its mimics’. The session guides participants through fundus imaging, OCT images and visual field plots to distinguish Normal Tension Glaucoma from benign anomalies.

Emphasis will be placed on integrating history, structural and functional findings and minimise avoidable referrals. ‘This session is ideal for optometrists delivering routine eye care, participating in enhanced glaucoma pathways, or looking to broaden their clinical scope,’ says Mr Kirkpatrick.

An AMD session, titled ‘What lies beneath: unearthing the clues for AMD’, will use case studies to highlight how thorough history-taking, careful examination and appropriate imaging can uncover early signs of AMD. It follows each patient from diagnosis to treatment, offering practical insights for clinical decision-making.

The third workshop takes a deep dive into extended depth of focus lenses (EDOF), which are increasingly used as an alternative to traditional monofocal lenses during cataract surgery.

Urgent Message to all Businesses that provide Partially Exempt Services.

Are you sure that your Partial Exemption process, treatment of De Minimis and your refunded Input Tax is being treated fairly in your accounting processes?

Eros Business Consulting is called in to both Audiology and Optical concerns who are at odds local HMRC officers or who have suspicions that their Full Cost Apportionment Percentages are unfair to the business or have been made aware by HMRC that they are not applying the de minimis rules correctly.

Many of these businesses have relied on their accountants especially since “Making Tax Digital (MTD)” came into force to calculate their returns often from Digital Book-keeping Systems that cannot deal with Partial exemption or checking de minimis.

In recent times clients we have assisted were unaware that they were accounting for partial exemption incorrectly having found out either by intervention from HMRC or by asking us to run an audit on their process.

In each case Eros Business Consulting has put in a system which is legally compliant either by assisting their accountants or working with the client allowing them to upload their returns themselves, leaving the accountants to deal with the basic company year-end accounts.

Are you sure that your business is:

  • correctly applying partial exemption rules?
  • has the fair and correct full cost apportionment percentage on spectacle, contact lens and hearing aid sales?
  • is correctly applying on each return a de minimis check?

A view from a large Company Accountants

Our own large Company Accountants are in agreement, and you can read from Kinnaird Hill and Associate’s chief accountant a warning to others on being complacent and that many accounting practices are deficient in Partial Exemption Knowledge and the required skill set should be left to those who wholly spend time of PE Businesses as we do.

Partial exemption is an extremely complicated and specialist area that in my experience many accountants either ignore or simply get wrong. My firm has successfully used Eros Business Consulting many times with our clients as a specialist advisor.

The risks to businesses that do not successfully calculate their VAT for partial exemption are basically twofold:

  • firstly the missing out of correct claims that can involve thousands of pound each year,
  • and secondly making a mistake the other way and end up owing HMRC vat incorrectly claimed over many years.

I would encourage any business owner who does either personally or through an accountancy practice or should be dealing with Partial Exemption to have Eros Business Consulting check them out with an Audit.

Bob Hutchinson

Consider a Partial Exemption Health Check

At Eros Business Consulting we have designed a questionnaire for you to complete as well as offering a confidential call following its assessment as to whether you are HMRC compliant, likely to be achieving a realistic value of refunded input tax and correctly determining de minimis on each return.

The VAT health check costs £100 plus vat and if you need further assistance our rates thereafter are below average accountancy rates per hour, timed to the minute. (Rates available on request)

Contact Bob Hutchinson Principal at Eros Business Consulting for more information and our Partial Exemption Audit Check questionnaire today by email or by our contact page https://erosconsultants.com/contact-us/

Just add in the comments or message box: Partial Exemption Audit Check

Bob Hutchinson will be at 100% Optical on all thre days and is willing to meet for a short face to face discussion at the exhibition.
