Thousands of clinicians gain CPD points that will benefit patients

THOUSANDS of delegates have taken part in Specsavers’ latest Mini Professional Advancement (MiniPAC) series that provides thought-provoking sessions for clinicians that benefit patients.

An impressive 178 continuing professional development sessions (CPD) events covering a broad range of optics related topics formed this year’s MiniPAC series, with delegates having the option of attending face to face events as well as joining online sessions between February and June.

Neil Retallic‘Delivering outstanding patient care is at the heart of what Specsavers does, and supporting CPD for clinicians and their teams across the sector – both internally and externally – is part of that mission with delivery through programmes such as MiniPAC’ says Neil Retallic, head of professional development at Specsavers.

This year’s MiniPAC series saw 10 online sessions open to all including self-employed and non-Specsavers clinicians, alongside 10 face-to-face events for Specsavers colleagues at locations across the UK and in Dublin, Ireland.

‘It was a pleasure to welcome more than 4,500 attendees, who joined the 20 sessions, expertly delivered by industry renowned speakers. Congratulations to all the delegates made up of optometrists, dispensing opticians and contact lens opticians for securing nearly 17,000 CPD points,’ adds Mr Retallic.

‘All of this hard work supports the development of clinicians and their team for the benefit of patients in communities that our sector serves.’

Myopia management, presbyopia, dispensing,a day in the life of an independent prescriber, domiciliary practice and living with low vision were among the areas covered during the MiniPAC series through provider-led peer review, lectures with discussion and discussion workshops.
