Optegra celebrates 10 years within the Harley Street medical district

This week, colleagues, ophthalmic experts and past and present patients came together to mark a decade since the opening of Optegra Eye Hospital Central London, located on Queen Anne Street in the heart of the Harley Street medical district.

Since opening its doors in 2015, the hospital has delivered more than 17,750 treatments, including laser eye surgery, cataract, lens replacement as well as light therapy for Dry Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD).

Senior Hospital Manager, Mykal Keenan, said: “We are incredibly proud to have helped thousands of patients improve and restore their vision over the past decade, enhancing quality of life for so many.

“It was a pleasure to welcome returning patients whom we have treated over the years, as well as many people considering vision correction surgery. Guests had the opportunity to hear about the vast range of treatment options available with Optegra, as well as tour the hospital and meet surgeons and the medical team to ask their individual questions.

“Bringing together patients, clinicians and staff created a fantastic atmosphere as we celebrated ten years of outstanding outcomes and raised a glass to many more!”

Optegra Queen Anne Street was designed as a state-of the-art eye hospital ten years ago, bringing together two adjacent houses to create a six-floor hospital, with a full laser suite, ophthalmic theatres, consultation rooms, an 11-bed day ward and office space.

Mr Amir Hamid,

Optegra’s Chief Medical Officer, Mr Amir Hamid, has operated within the Central London hospital since launch, and he said: “The hospital has changed and developed over the years, moving from the A to Z of ophthalmology to a very streamlined approach, as we specialise in providing the very best cataract and vision correction surgery.

“We have adapted to changing needs over the past decade, not least the impact of Covid, as well as embracing latest technologies – from the very best intraocular lenses for private cataract and lens replacement procedures, to SMILE keyhole laser eye surgery and most recently, Valeda the very first treatment for patients with Dry AMD.

“We look forward to helping many more patients in the years ahead.”
