OPTEGRA Appoints New Medical Director 

 

Optegra Eye Health Care announces the appointment of Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, Mr Alastair Stuart as its new UK Medical Director with immediate effect.

As the specialist eye hospital group continues to grow, previous Medical Director, Mr Amir Hamid, has become Chief Medical Officer.

Hampshire-based Mr Stuart has 15 years’ experience as an ophthalmic surgeon and is a specialist in cataract and refractive surgery having trained at Moorfields.  He has worked with Optegra for the past three years.  Regarding his appointment, he says:

“I am very proud and excited about this new role. I am really looking forward to the challenge of ensuring that Optegra’s success and progress continues.”

“Amir has done a fantastic job during his time as Medical Director, and I am very grateful to him for putting us in such a good position. It is important we do not stand still. We must continue to progress, grow and develop further.”

Mr Stuart’s main priorities will be patient outcomes and safety, whilst ensuring the treatment pathways which have progressed and developed over time continue to be upheld within the fast-growing company.  He said:

“We constantly review and analyse our outcomes and as Medical Director I will be responsible for holding us accountable to the high standards we have set. I will strive to ensure that all business decisions are made with the patient at the forefront.”

Mr. Stuart will continue to operate at Optegra Eye Hospital Hampshire providing cataract refractive surgery, various types of laser eye surgery and implantable contact lenses.

He is a key opinion leader for companies such Zeiss and Rayner.  As part of these roles he has provided a series of talks as an expert in the fields of cataract and laser refractive surgery.

Mr Stuart, 39, lives in Swanmore, Hampshire, and is married with three sons.  Outside of work he is a big sports fan enjoying football, golf and is a keen runner.
