New Moorfields Education courses coming up!
Moorfields Education is pleased to offer two brand new courses, to professionals in ophthalmology, optometry and related specialties.
The Moorfields and UCL Laser course for ophthalmologists – 6 November, London
This full day course will be delivered by Moorfields consultants and senior clinicians. It is designed to enhance both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in ophthalmic laser procedures and will ensure participants are well-prepared to deliver optimal patient care.
There will be practical workshops offering comprehensive training, using specialist laser model eyes and laser machines. You’ll have the opportunity to deliver three laser procedures: YAG laser capsulotomy, YAG peripheral iridotomy (PI), and selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT), all of which, meet the objectives set by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (DOPS SS14 and SS15).
Plus, formative assessments. At the end of the course, you will obtain a certificate of participation and a competency sign off pack.

Myopia control in children -13 November, online
This new Myopia control in children course is aimed at both community and hospital optometrists but also relevant for doctors, ophthalmic nurses and allied health professionals who wish to learn more about myopia in children. This full day course will be delivered by a range of experts involved in research and treatment of children with myopia.
We’ll be covering myopia epidemiology, risk factors and causes, progression of myopia, current research and evidence, optical and pharmaceutical interventions, behavioural and environmental interventions, clinical assessment and monitoring, patient management and compliance, integration into optometric practice, and future innovations.

Dr Annegret Dahlmann-Noor is the Director of the Children’s Service and the Clinical Trials Lead for Paediatric Ophthalmology at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, UK, and Honorary Clinical Associate Professor in Ophthalmology at University College London, UK.
Pauline Cho, a former Professor of the School of Optometry of PolyU (Hong Kong), is currently a Professor (PT) at three universities in China.
Bruce Evans is Visiting Professor to City, University of London and London South Bank University.
He is Fellow of College of Optometrists, American Academy of Optometry, European Academy of Optometry & Optics, and British Contact Lens Association.Shelly Bansal currently owns a practice that has a client base of over 18000 patients. In 2007 Shelly was awarded with his Fellowship of the British Contact Lens Association. He lectures internationally on many contact lens topics; all based on his personal experiences in practice.
