NEG appoints new Managing Director

The National Eyecare Group Ltd (NEG), the largest purchasing group for UK independent opticians, has announced the appointment of Phil Mullins as Managing Director.

A qualified dispensing optician, Phil joined NEG in 2005 as Business Development Manager to help drive the business forwards – working closely with NEG’s cofounders Mike Wheeler and Michael Daunt. He became Director of Business Development in 2010 before becoming Operations Director in 2018. Sandi Charlesworth is NEG’s Business Development Manager.

As well as driving growth through strategic partnerships with preferred suppliers and service providers – to support individual NEG members and the independent sector as a whole – Phil is responsible for the day-to-day management of Optinet, NEG’s subsidiary IT company which develops practice management software.

Commenting on his new role, Phil said: “I look forward to continuing to work with our members and suppliers to strengthen the independent sector of UK optics. We have many exciting developments in the pipeline for 2022, and we are very much looking forward to getting back together with members in June at our Building for Success Conference.”

The 2022 NEG Building for Success Conference will take place on Sunday 19 and Monday 20 June at the Staverton Estate Hotel near Daventry. Titled, ‘Tools for success’, the event will include CPD lectures and cover some of the most important challenges facing the profession today in both the business and clinical arena – including myopia, presbyopia and age-related macular degeneration.
