The service will offer outpatient appointments and surgery. This specialty encompasses procedures for the eyelids, tear-ducts and other orbital structures.

Moorfields at Stratford has started a new adnexal service, offering outpatient appointments and surgery. This specialty encompasses procedures for the eyelids, tear-ducts and other orbital structures.

We are starting this service to provide extra capacity, to reduce waiting times for our patients, as well as taking new referrals from across east London and Essex.

Adnexal outpatient services include:

• Smaller chalazions (cysts under the eyelid).
• Relief of symptoms of tear canal drainage problems, including minor blockages.

Adnexal surgery includes:

• Ptosis repair (to correct drooping eyelids)
• Blepharoplasty
• Brow lift

The team is led by:

• Consultant – Alan Ngiem
• Adnexal Fellow – Philomena McNamara
• Clinic manager – Kasey Smalling

Stratford now offers these services:

• Adnexal (outpatient and surgery)
• Cataract (outpatient and surgery)
• General ophthalmology (outpatient, including laser suite)
• Glaucoma (outpatient and surgery)
• Medical retina (outpatient and surgery)
