Dundee Specsavers helps raise money for MND
SPECSAVERS Dundee is supporting a Motor Neurone Disease charity with its Cycle to Rome initiative.
The practice has donated £20,000 to the My Name’5 Doddie foundation in support of its ‘All Roads Lead to Rome’ cycle event.
Eight cyclists will set off from the Dundee practice on Saturday 2 March and will travel 1,800 miles by bike, passing through four countries finally reaching Rome on Saturday 9 March.
However, it’s not just cyclists taking part in this epic cycle, Mike Stephenson, husband of Jenny who is the dispensing optician director of Specsavers Dundee, is also going along for the journey as part of the support team.
The completion of the cycle coincides with the Scotland v Italy Six Nations match at Rome’s Stadio Olimpico on Saturday 9 March.
Jenny Stephenson, dispensing director optician at Specsavers Dundee, says: ‘When I heard about the All Roads Lead to Rome cycle in memory of Scottish rugby legend, Doddie Weir, I simply knew we had to get involved.
‘Being able to give £20,000 in funding to such a great charity is simply amazing, and we know it will be put to great use, in memory of a great man.’
