Conference for hospital and specialty optometrists returns

Popular education conference for hospital and specialty optometrists returns

The AOP’s Hospital and Specialty Optometrists Conference will take place between 21-22 September in Manchester

The Association of Optometrists (AOP), in partnership with headline sponsor, Bausch + Lomb, with the support of Cantor and Nissel, NuVision Biotherapies, Théa Pharmaceuticals and Roche UK, is delivering a two-day conference for hospital and specialty optometrists at the Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester.

The Hospital and Specialty Optometrist Conference (HSOC) returned in a face- to- face format last year after a three-year hiatus. This year’s event has been designed to provide a comprehensive education programme to fit the needs of hospital and specialty optometrists, with sessions focused on the unique challenges faced in hospital service and best practice for the benefit of patients.

Ian Beasley, AOP Head of Education, said: “Following the success of last year’s event, we are pleased to be able to deliver the Hospital and Specialty Optometrists Conference to practitioners on an even larger scale this year.

“We have curated an education programme that covers a range of topic areas to suit a variety of clinical interests, with content aimed at all experience levels from advanced practitioners to those looking to consolidate or learn new skills in key areas of subspecialty. We have also increased capacity for attendees, including specialty optometrists working in the community, further fostering collaboration between primary and secondary care colleagues.”

Attendees can expect to learn from a lecture programme covering five key streams of clinical interest, including anterior eye, contact lenses, glaucoma, medical retina and general optometry. Delegates can choose to attend a mixture of streams or focus on areas that align with their clinical subspecialty.

The programme will provide a mix of keynote lectures, peer reviews, clinical workshops, CPD across all domains, alongside short paper and poster presentations.

Delegates have the opportunity to gain over 18 interactive CPD points over the two-day event.
