Fight for Sight
What we do
Macular degeneration. Glaucoma. Cataracts. Diabetic retinopathy. Childhood blindness. Rare eye diseases.
No eye problem is too big or too small for us to take on.
We are the UK’s largest charity funding pioneering eye research since 1965. We’re here to create a future everyone can see.
More about our research
We’re incredibly proud of our scientists and what they do every day. Our researchers are based at leading universities and hospitals across the UK.
Every year we invite applications for research grants.
We’re able to fund just 15-20% of the 90 or so applications we receive throughout the year.
To help with the selection process and make sure we’re funding the programmes of the highest standards and most worldwide potential, every application is put through a rigorous selection process. They are scrutinised by a peer review panel, our own scientists and international leaders in relevant fields.
Fundraising
We don’t receive a penny of government funding.
The work we do is completely down to our incredible supporters who help us in the fight against sight loss.
A huge portion of our support comes from a large number of individual donations, sponsored events and by people remembering us in their wills. Our supporters also regularly hold community fundraising events in our name, which are organised through local committees and volunteers.
We also actively raise money through grants and corporate sponsorship.
