Body Doctor appoints Head of Professional Services

The Body Doctor company has appointed Andrew Price as its Head of Professional Services. This is a new role at the company which designs and manufactures The Eye Doctor range of antibacterial eye compresses, lid wipes and eye drops.

Mr Price is a contact lens and dry eye specialist who owns a specialist contact lens consultancy and has been a member of the British Contact Lens Association (BCLA) for over 30 years. He is chief executive of The ADP Consultancy, managing developer of the Eye Drops Database and is a professional affairs consultant for a number of other eye care companies. He runs contact lens and dry eye clinics in Nantwich, Ellesmere Port and Southport. He also lectures and is an associate member of the International Association of Contact Lens Educators (IACLE).

Speaking of his new appointment with The Body Doctor, Mr Price said: “I hope to show that the application of The Eye Doctor products is backed by evidence-based science and how their recommended use can directly apply to primary eye care for the benefit of the patient and the practice.

“I think the role will enable practices to see how world class products can fit into the eye care they provide, helping their patients and building their business.”

Explaining the new role within The Body Doctor, Managing Director, Sue Grant, said:
“During the Covid restrictions with the transmission of infection in everyone’s mind, one of questions that came to Andrew was, are home-use hot compresses a potential harbor for micro-organisms, especially when used for conditions that often have a bacterial overload?

“As Andrew was aware, we had done extensive research on the problem of bacteria on hot compresses and he requested the data. He found the evidence both a revelation and concerning. The more we discussed this evidence and its implications, the more we found we had in common and it seemed a natural extension to work together.

“Andrew will be able to communicate the benefits of our products to help patients and practices on many different levels. He will also be undertaking clinical trials on behalf of The Body Doctor with the emphasis on how the evidence can be used in practice.”
