20,000 CPD points achieved through Specsavers MiniPAC series

Clinicians achieve 20,000 CPD points through Specsavers MiniPAC series

Around 1,600 Specsavers clinicians have collectively earned more than 20,000 CPD points through a national continuing professional development programme focused on building ‘trusted experts’.

The Specsavers MiniPAC 2026 programme began in Exeter in March and ran across 10 events, bringing together optometrists, dispensing opticians and contact lens opticians. Five tracks of learning combined lectures, peer discussions and hands-on workshops designed for application in practice.

‘The MiniPAC series is just one example of Specsavers commitment to continuing professional development for our clinicians,’ says Grant Duncan, director of professional development at Specsavers.

‘A consistent theme was the development of Trusted Experts, encouraging confidence in clinical decision-making and a strong focus on evidence-based, patient-centred care.’

Clinical sessions explored glaucoma detection, monitoring and referral refinement, reflecting the growing role of community practice in managing long-term conditions and supporting shared care pathways. Dispensing excellence remained a central feature throughout the programme.

Exhibition spaces showcased innovations from industry partners, supporting clinicians with insight into new technologies and approaches to patient care.

Mr Duncan adds: ‘The strength of MiniPAC lies in its blend of learning, collaboration and real-world application, helping clinicians deliver better outcomes for patients.

‘I also want to congratulate everyone who took part in the series. Well done for gaining more than 20,000 CPD points. It’s an incredible achievement and a real testament to the appetite for high-quality, practical learning.’

The 2026 MiniPAC series concluded on 7 June at the Leonardo Tower Bridge Hotel, where nearly 400 attendees gathered for the largest event in the programme’s history.
